Alright. I may sound like a whiny brat, but why is the media (and people in real life) convinced that anyone under the age of eighteen is stupid? I’ve just reached my teens, and trust me when I say I have much better spelling and grammar than half the adults I’ve seen. Also, I’m fairly sure I have more common sense than a large amount of adults, too.

I’m not trying to make a rant, because I honestly want your opinions on why you think kids are stupid. However, in order to see where I stand in this, I’ll have to give a highly biased explanation. So…let’s just see how that goes, shall we?

First off, the media. If aliens were to come here and see a ‘pre-teen’ TV show, they would scream and run away, vowing to take over an intelligent planet. Now, for detail. As an example, I’ll be using Disney, one of the major offenders (and oddly enough, a giant source for innuendo). And before you say anything, yes, some of these shows are meant for early teenagers.

Despite what they seem to think, we don’t need morals shoved down out throat. Can someone explain to me why you adults see the need to teach kids that doing drugs is wrong when they already know?

Also, the amount of sheer stupidity is appalling. For instance, I once saw a TV show that just…insulted every kid in the world’s intelligence. I mean, the shows have merits, but they teach you the most obvious things. If an adult wants their child to learn, just shove them into skull, or better yet, teach them these things!

I’m not going any further, because I know this is, by all definitions, a rant. Oh, and…please don’t report me. Please? I want some honest opinions and answers, and I want to know how kids look in an adult’s eyes. Do you think we’re stupid? Ignorant? Naive? Oh, and please none of that ‘kids are young, therefore they’re stupid’ stuff. I don’t care for those answers, and you won’t get any credit for them.

Thank you, if you reply!
You guys are like sharks! I just posted this thing!

Now that that’s out of the way, I respect you guys’ opinions and all…but would it kill you to explain? Anyway, thank you for the input, and Full Intention [Halcyon], you actually made me chuckle a little. Congrats; that’s not an easy feat.

Again, thank you for the input, even if I’m a little disappointed in the whole ‘real-world experience’ answer…

ColdHard…, I’m not saying I’m all-knowing. In fact, I know I’ve got a lot to learn. I’m terribly ignorant, and I am, in a way, an ‘idiot’. But a lot of things, not what you’re talking about, are unjust. Sorry for arguing, and I appreciate the input.

Also…old cartoons vs. today’s cartoons. All I’m saying.

i think i know why, most internet users are adults, and adults value age a lot, they see it as their level, when the truth is that you learn some things and forget some

Inexperience…when you have been to the rodeo and mastered riding the bull, you’ll get more respect. You will have to work for it and earn it, just like the adults did.

    The rodeo talk is metaphorical…

you get age faster the lower your mental speed, adults earn respect from other adults because they value age a lot, but just like we kids look stupid to adults, adults look stupid to kids, adults’ logical mistakes are very noticeable and they believe all they say in news, i know we kids do some stupid things that adults notice, but adults do the same

Adults think kids are idiots because they are. Idiot however is a very harsh word, but it’s the cold hard truth. Here is a typical timeline of how a man thinks to himself.

    Phase 1
As a boy – I want to learn

    Phase 2
As a teen – I have learned enough to compete with adults

    Phase 3
As a young adult – I have nothing left to learn

    Phase 4
As a full grown man – I realize I still have a lot to learn.

Right now, you are at phase 2 and it’s good that you are very confident with your intelligence but I’m afraid you are only at the beginning stage of this trend. You are probably even shaking your head disagreeing with me right now as you read this paragraph. But it is not until Phase 4 that people began to really wise up.

Because only when you realize you are down when you really began to look and climb up.

this is a reply for the adult, not for the teen: did you even notice? the phase 1 is a faster version of the phase 4, and the first 3 phases, the lower age were smarter and more willing to learn, i think you need to rethink your logic, see that you really “had more to learn” as a fully grown man? the teen was more logical than you, i think people at phase 4 only say they have lots to learn because they want to feel as smart as the lowest phases

what i meant is that adults in phase 4 try to imitate kids in phase 1 to feel like dunning effect is in their favor and feel they’re smart, but the truth is that adults believe lies more easily than kids

not that adults wanna be kids, i meant that adults wanna be as smart as kids, “i wanna learn” and “as a grown man i have lots to learn” are the same, but the adult one is slower, this is becuz adults have lower mind speed (for them, time is faster), so they understand better longer texts, while we kids like better shorter texts

Because they have all forgotten what it was like to be young and have everyone think you are a lot stupider than you are.

I can say, being in my twenties now, there is always a lot more to learn, but the way people talk and post in comments, as well as politicians, about kids, is ridiculous. Kids understand things and can play mature video games from a much younger age than 18, and also understand issues like drugs, etc, far better than any politician will ever give credit for.

true, adults think they are smarter, but we kids see lots of logical mistakes from them; each time they see news, they believe anything news want them to believe; dad said growing up is unavoidable, but my mind and body is detoxing from the grow up; is the dunning effect, stupid people believe they are smarter, and that includes adults

i know, that behavior from adults is annoying, i think is because they believe more in documents and adult media than in the physical world; name, age and other data doesn’t exist physically, yet, adults believe in it like if it were real; and the reason that behavior is common in the internet is because most internet users are adults

update: i found that adults see age as their level, so they think the higher it is, the wiser they are
